About
Shannon Enochs, DNP, PMHNP-BC
I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing practice.
I have a lot of respect for what psychiatry can do. Medication changes lives. But our tools only reach so far. Plenty of people never find one that fits, and that is not a failure of effort on their part, or of the person prescribing. It is the honest limit of what we have.
I started Goldenturas for the people who want something different. We begin with the whole picture: what you have tried, what you inherited, what you are living through, what you already know about yourself.
Then we decide together what to do with it. Sometimes that means starting a medication, or adjusting one, or coming off something that stopped helping. Often it means looking at sleep, grief, food, movement, and the parts of your history no one has asked you about yet.
Turas is Gaelic for a pilgrimage, a journey taken on purpose. It is my ancestors' word. I chose it because what they carried came down to me: their grief, their silences, their survival. Some of it I have been able to put down, and what I found in its place is the other half of the name. The gold is what you come back with.
We see patients throughout California by telehealth. This is a cash-pay practice - we do not accept insurance. I know that puts it out of reach for some people, and I would rather say so plainly than bury it.
If this is the kind of care you have been looking for, start here.
